Colostrum has been recognised throughout the ages and across the continents as a natural nutritional supplement. The ancient Chinese were well aware of the properties of colostrum and it was, although rare, seen as a vital source of health.

In India, Ayurvedic physicians and the Rishi’s have documented the physical and spiritual health benefits from colostrum for hundreds of years.

Milk is central to the daily diet of the Maasai people and is drunk fresh or fermented. Every Maasai knows the most important milk is colostrum. It is either drunk pure, or mixed with herbs to make use of its goodness and source of antibodies in order to help support strength. They call it i-sikitok.

Scandinavian countries have been making a delicious colostrum pudding and dessert topped with honey for hundreds of years, for celebrating the birth of calves and good health. Elsewhere in Europe colostrum was taken where and when available to the wealthier and/or rural community for centuries.

By the late 18th Century, Western scientists began to study colostrum and document its benefits for supporting normal growth and development of the newborn. Today, there are literally hundreds of published scientific and clinical studies on colostrum.
